San Francisco

22:00:00

¡Buenas noches amores!

Good night! Today I continue explaining my road trip to the West Coast of USA. After going to Madame Tussauds and doing our last visit to the Hall of Fame (you can see the post here), we took the car to go to San Francisco.

The distance between Los Angeles to San Francisco is about 600 milles, then we decided to do it in two days with a stop in San Luis Obispo. We drove all the day since we arrived to San Luis Obispo at 8 p.m., but we didn't have a reservation in any hotel. When we arrived, we asked to all the hotels if they had any room available, but all was full.

It seemed that we had to sleep in the car, but we started to search a hotel in Booking in Paso Robles or Morro Bay. Finally, we found a motel by 50 $ per night that it was in Paso Robles and we made the reservation. When we put the address of the motel in the Google Maps, it wasn't in Paso Robles, it was 100 milles from San Luis Obispo, near Fresno. It was a terrible news to us, because we was so tired and the motel was so far. We arrived at the motel at 11 p.m. and we didn't sleep at the car.

Next day, we got up early and decided to arrive to Morro Bay, because we wanted to do California 1 road that it's the road that recommends all the people to go to Los Angeles to San Francisco for its amazing views. When we arrived to Morro Bay, we decided to have a breakfast.

We continued our trip by the California 1 Road that goes next to cliffs and inside a national park and the views are awesome, but we couldn't enjoy the views so much, because the tank of the car started to go down very quickly and the light of reservation turned on and we didn't find any petrol station near. When we only had the last line of the reservation of the car, we stopped in a coffee shop to ask if there was any petrol station near and they told us that there was a petrol station in 3,5 milles that were eternals until we arrived. As you can imagine, we spent a horrible time during 50 milles and we didn't enjoy of the trip. But we learn that before to go to any national park we have to full the tank.

When we solved the problem with the fuel, we stopped to make pictures of the beautiful views. We went to Monterrey that is known because you can see whales near here and we stopped to eat something.

When we finished to eat, we decided to go directly to San Francisco because we didn't want to arrive so late. When we arrived to San Francisco we went to see Union Square and Powell Street.

The next day, we were anxious for visiting this new city. We went to Powell Street to see the change of the direction of the cable train and then, we went to the pier. Without any doubt, the pier that you must visit is Pier 39 that it's known because you can see sea lions in this place and it's very funny to see them and I would have spent all the day seeing them.

Then we went to Fisherman's Wharf that it's the pier where you can find restaurants and posts where you can buy shellfish, but especially crab. We wanted to eat in this zone of the city, but it was early and we decided to we went to see Lombard Street that it's the famous street where its steepest part is shaped snaking.

After eat something, we went to the famous Golden Gate. We went near the pier and doing a walk in the Presidio and Fort Mason and we made a lot of pictures. When we arrived to the Golden Gate, we decided to cross it and after walking all the day, we were very tired.

We went to search an Starbucks to rest and then, we picked one of the famous cable train to our hotel.

Next day, we reserved tickets to visit Alcatraz. We went to Pier 33 where our boat departed to Alcatraz at 11 a.m. Once there, they showed you a film where they explain you the history of Alcatraz. One of the things that most impacted me was that there wasn't only the jail, there was houses for the family of the workers and they lived there.

During the tour of the jail, they gave you an audioguide and they showed you different parts of the jail as the cells, the dinning room, the showers... and the history that happened there. I recommend you to go to Alcatraz if you go to San Francisco.

At the evening, we went to see Chinatown, Japantown, the Painted Ladies (the famous houses of the serie Full House), Union Square and City Hall.

Next day we did the luggage again to go to Yosemite. I would have liked to stay one more day in San Francisco, because in two days it's difficult to visit all the city. But the things I could see of this city, I like it. The only thing that I didn't like is the cold.

I hope you enjoyed of the post and the next Thursday we will have a new post about my road trip. Thanks for your visits and comments. Have a nice weekend!
