Carcasonne- Toulouse

22:00:00

Last week, we had some days of holidays and we decided to do a trip to the neighboring country, France. The chosen place was Carcassone, because it's a town near from Barcelona and we had listened that it was an amazing town.

As we weren't in a hurry to arrived to Carcassone, we decided to do the Castle Tour and visit some of them. Our first stop was Gorges Galamus that it's a natural canyon created by the Agly river and where is placed Saint Antonie of Galumus hermitage that it was made in the same rock. An amazing place for visiting.

Our next stop was the Queribus Castle that it's a castle situated on a rocky spur. To visit the castle, you have to pay a ticket and then, you have to climb a steep slope. The castle is pretty destroyed, but there are some rooms that are conserved perfectly. In addition, you have a stunning views since there.

After our visit, we went to Cucugnan that it's a village between the two castles and we wanted to eat something, but there weren't any restaurant opened. Then, we went to visit the next castle, Peyrepertuse Castle that is situated on the top of a rocky mountain and it's difficult to differentiate the mountain to the castle.

After paying the ticket, we went up about 15 minutes and we arrived to the first part of the castle, because this castle is bigger than Queribus Castle. There are a second part that you have to climb steep stairs, but the views are amazing.

When we finished our visit, we decided to continue our trip to Carcassone.

The next day, we got up early to visit the town. Carcassone is divided in two parts: The Cité and the Bastide. Our hotel was situated in the center of the Bastide. Then we started our tour for this part. We visited the Carnot Square, Saint Michel Cathedral and Jacobins Door.

Then, we went to the Cité that is the most famous part of Carcarsonne. We passed to Neuf Bridge and we entered for the famous Narbonnaise Door. We visited its streets and we went to visit the Castle. It is very good conserved and you can do an idea of the life in there. We walked the wall until we arrived to the audience and Saint Nazaire Cathedral.

When we finished our visit to the Cathedral, we decided to eat something and when we finished, it was raining and then, we arrived soaked to the hotel and it didn't stop raining in all the rest of the day.

The last day, we did the baggages and before return home, we decided to visit Toulouse that it's 100 km from Carcassone. It's a city that we were pleasantly surprised, because it has a similar air to Paris with more stately buildings and a lot of things to see.

Our visit started to Saint Etienne Cathedral that we liked. Then we went to Neuf Bridge to crossed the Garona and after that, we visited Capitol Square that they were riding the Christmas Market and is where is placed the city Council and the National Theatre. Our last visit was the Saint Fermin Basilica that we were impressed by its large breadth.

After visiting Toulouse, we went to Barcelona and our trip arrived to its end.
